Edging

Part 1: My Experiment, Energy-work & Mindfulness

I’ve had more clients than usual coming in for edging which has encouraged me to deepen into my personal Edging practice.

I’ve started this little experiment.

What would happen if I edged myself for at least 30 minutes every day for a month.

I would imagine that integrating 30+ minutes of pure pleasure into my daily vibration would have nothing but positive effects on what the universe mirrors back to me.

I’m on day 8 and I can’t recommend this enough.

From an intentional energetic perspective, I’m creating an energetic pleasure loop to supercharge my life. As I’m edging, I visualize the energy moving from my lower body, up through my torso, and out the top of my head, then looping into the heavens, and then down to my root and back up towards my sacral. I then hook my desires, dreams, and manifestations into that loop.

Each time I get into this practice, I’m adding more fuel to that spinning loop to charge it even more and further magnetize my connection to my desires and the divine.

And from a more concrete, mindfulness standpoint.

This is active meditation. This practice is bringing me out of my monkey mind and into deeper presence in my body. It’s called edging for a reason. I’m actively bringing myself close to the edge of orgasm, seeing how close and how long I can ride that edge, and tuning deeply into when I need to shift gears as I get too close. Doing this requires deep attention and presence.

I’m also deepening my connection and awareness with my body. I’m finding out even more about what type of touch, pressure, rhythm, sound, breath, and movement does to either stimulate my pleasure, spread it around my body, or down-regulate it to keep me from falling off the edge. I’m also increasing my capacity to hold pleasure and gain more control over orgasm which will serve me and my partners during spicy time immensely.

This practice also serves as an easily accessible tool to refresh my energy and get out of that heady-focused-stress space. Pleasure is a cleansing, restorative and generative energy. Diving into this practice anytime throughout my day has been a fool proof way to completely reset my mood and energy.

Part 2: Self love, porn, and tips & tricks

Edging is also an incredible act of self love. Sitting down to gift yourself with this presence and connection–especially in an age of distraction, hustle, and chasing the next dopamine hit– is such a powerful way to remind your body that pleasure is not only allowed, but deserved. And for all my recovering Catholic baddies out there, this practice helps dismantle deeper layers of unconscious “masturbation is a sin” conditioning.

Porn while edging: I’m not against it by any means, but my invitation is to use this as a practice to deepen your connection with yourself, not a screen. If porn is currently a major part of your pleasure practice, let it be an access point to activate pleasure. Then turn it off and let your body take the wheel.

Breath,  Movement, and Sound are the 3 portals to pleasure in Tantra. Finding new ways of accessing these are excellent ways to build, circulate, and modulate arousal.

There are specific breath techniques I could teach you, but you don’t need me to get started with this. Look at it all as a playful experiment.

With breath, start with a simple loop of consistent inhales and exhales. Nothing too dramatic, just deeper than your average breath. From here you can get creative. What happens when you add short rapid in-hales and exhales for a minute while stroking? What about 2 minutes of this? What happens when you hold your breath for as long as you can after that rapid oxygenation?  What happens when you let yourself moan, and groan? Does it modulate your arousal up, or down? What happens when you actively keep all muscles in your body relaxed? What about when you clench them all at the same time? And what about being on your hands and knees versus laying on your back? Standing up vs sitting cross-legged?  There are no rules here. It’s all creative exploration of pleasure in the body.

Our society has trained many of us from a young age to sit still, and be quiet. This conditioning has seeped into our erotic and sexual expression, robbing so many of us of the joy, pleasure, and play that’s available here . This practice is a gorgeous way to start unwinding that old programming from your system.

Stay tuned for part 3
