Lake Steam is a Russian bathhouse located in Denver proper, making it the closest and easiest to access of the three cruising locations I’ve shared on my blog.

Entry is roughly $30 for a day pass, plus $3 if you need to rent a padlock for your locker.

When you arrive, you’ll check in at the front desk. If it’s your first time, someone will give you a brief tour—but it’s not that big of a place, so it’s easy to figure out.

They also have $60 50 minute massages and even cheaper body scrubs. You can call to book, or book online. Occasionally they have walk in appointments open

From there, you’ll enter the locker room, ditch your clothes and belongings in one of the lockers, and grab a towel. They provide a small towel for you, but I recommend bringing your own.

Before entering the bathhouse, start by showering off in one of the open shower stalls.

Then, you have options.

The Hot Tub

There’s a hot tub in the main room, which is my favorite spot. While it is out in the open, plenty of handsy action takes place beneath the surface.

I personally love how exposed this spot feels. Brushing knees, gently rubbing your neighbor’s thighs, teasing at his cock, and having yours teased in return—with other guys taking showers, walking in and out, or even getting a body scrub nearby—is so exhilarating to me.

Lake Steam isn’t gay-only, but it’s definitely one of Denver’s main gay watering holes outside of the bars.

Plenty of straight men frequent the space, but they’re typically pretty easy to identify—they’re usually the ones wearing swim trunks.

The owners and massage therapists are primarily gay. They patrol the space, walking through roughly once every 20 minutes to “check” for sexual behavior—and they know damn well what’s going on. In my opinion, it’s welcome; you just need to be discreet about it.

The Lounge and Sitting Area

Another option is the lounge and sitting area behind the mirror and sinks connected to the locker room.

There used to be lounge chairs in there, but since they began renovations to add a gym, the room currently has more traditional chairs and tables. You can sit down, eat a snack, connect to the Wi-Fi, bring your laptop and get some work done, check your emails, or sit on Grindr and see who else might be nearby.

It’s a great place to chill and take a break from the heat—or simply wait for more people to arrive.

The room is also tucked away enough that you can sit next to or across from someone with your cocks out, stroking. I recommend keeping your towel wrapped around your waist, or at least nearby, so you can easily cover up on short notice.

The Dry Sauna

I never go into the dry sauna. It’s way too hot for me, so I don’t have much intel to share here. It is a very large space, though. From what I gather, it’s less cruisy, and more of the straight guys tend to frequent this area.

The Wet Sauna

The most active spot by far is the wet sauna, located directly beside the dry sauna in the back corner of the main room.

No cruising skills are required here. Simply arrive, and you’ll have no trouble jerking off with the other men.

It’s a small room that fills up easily, with lots of people moving in and out during the busier hours.

Best Times to Go

Lake Steam is closed on Tuesdays.

Mondays and Thursdays are women’s days, while Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays are men’s days.

During the week, evenings are typically better than daytime. Friday evening, Saturday evening, and Sunday evening are all great times to go—especially if you want the best chance of finding a larger cruising crowd.
