Gay Cruising Denver

Updated: 10 hours ago

Cruising is by far one of my favorite activities. I’ll take an adventure out to go cruise over doomscrolling on Grindr any day.

Check out my 3 Favorite places to cruise in the Denver area:

Read a play by play of a recent cruising venture here in Denver:

Part of the reason I love it so much is because it’s like a dance, a game, and a hunt, all rolled into one.

You never know what you’re going to get, or if you’re going to get anything at all, and that’s part of the fun. Almost like fishing, but with the potential for huge peaks of arousal and connection.

I also love how it’s virtually all nonverbal. It forces us into our bodies in order to engage with another person. It feels so primal to me—compared to being on the apps and repeating the same scripted conversations again and again.

It’s also about touch and energy over looks and age. Which I love. When cruising, I find myself engaging with men of all shapes, sizes, and ages. It’s no longer what they look like or how old they are; it’s about how their energy moves in relation to mine and the environment, paired with the quality of their touch.

I find myself on the apps being far too picky. Constantly searching for the “holy grail”—the perfect guy with the best cock and hottest pics. It’s unhealthy, I know.

And on the apps, it’s often all so planned and scripted. When you do find someone to hook up with, you arrive, get naked, and dive in. Which, of course, there’s nothing wrong with that at all, and there’s certainly plenty of fun to be had this way, but, typically, my Grindr hookups lack some of my favorite erotic ingredients: mystery, anticipation, risk, and obstacle.

Erotic Elements? What are you talking about?

I look at erotic elements like ingredients that make up the erotic meal you share with another person. Like the textures of energies that are at play, fueling the arousal and texturing the connection sharing with your intimate partners.

There are tons of them! Sensation, loving touch, impact, denial, anticipation, ritual, protocol, predicament, mystery, risk, praise, service, trance, rhythm, humiliation, degradation, discipline, punishment, dominance, submission, voyeurism, exhibitionism—to name a few.

Mystery

What’s going to happen? Who’s going to be present? Will I be into them? Will they be into me? Will I strike out, or will this be a peak erotic experience? There’s no profile to preview, no conversation to establish expectations, and no guarantee that anything will happen at all. Every new person who enters the space opens an entirely new set of possibilities—and I have no idea which one, if any, will come alive.

Risk

What if I get caught? The thrill of breaking the rules, being in an environment where there could be real or perceived consequences of being sexual with someone else. What if a staff member of the spa walks in? What if I make a move toward someone who’s actually straight, gets offended, or simply denies me? And how delicious is the reward when the risk is overcome? I love a little, or even a lot, of risk. Especially while cruising in places where we’re not supposed to—so often, simply being rock hard is risky enough, stroking the guy’s cock you’re sitting next to while keeping your eyes glued on the sauna door to be able to cover up and act like nothing is happening upon a moment’s notice of that door opening up. Then, taking that risk one step further by removing your awareness from the door, bending over, and lowering your head to take his cock in your mouth is 100 times more arousing for me than any Grindr blowjob.

Risk can also be played with in the locations you attempt to engage with another and how exposed you let your erection be in more public areas. Are you willing to walk through the changing room ass naked with your cock fully erect? Or even grab yourself a bit to signal to another in the changing room you're looking for action? Or ditch the towel all together so you have no way of hiding your arousal if a staff member walks by?

Anticipation

When is it going to happen? You’ve already made eyes with one guy in the sauna. It seems like he’s interested—but you’re both a little unsure. Someone has to make the next move to take this encounter beyond just occasional nervous glances. You up the ante to occasionally rearranging your cock through the towel you’re partially wrapped in. He doesn’t reciprocate. Did he know that was you upping the ante? Does he need more of a signal? Or am I reading this all wrong? You rearrange again, this time more slowly, boldly, and deliberately, paired with just a touch more eye contact. He gently grazes his hand over his crotch. He’s with you. What’s next? Your cock is getting hard now. Removing the towel would certainly expose how aroused you really are. Who’s going to make the next move? Is it time to swing bigger? What if someone else walks in? You wait for 2 more matched crotch grabs before finally pulling the trigger and opening your towel fully. You’re throbbing, and his eyes lock on your cock. He’s nervous but tentatively opens up his towel; his cock is even nicer than you hoped. You’re both stroking now. Your eyes dancing up and down each other’s bodies. What will happen next? Is this all you’re comfortable with, or will one of you make a move to get even closer?

Obstacle:

Someone else walks in. You both quickly cover up. Who is this guy? Now there’s something in the way. You know there’s pleasure to be had here, but suddenly you have to either wait, have the balls to continue on anyway, or figure out if this 3rd person is open to joining you. There’s also no talking. We have to be quiet here. It’s all via body language and subtle signals. There’s a challenge to overcome, and that challenge adds just enough tension to prolong the erotic charge in a new way.

Your guy stands up and walks out. Did the 3rd guy spook him? Is he done and heading to pack up? Or just to the showers to kill time until the 3rd guy is gone? Should I follow him? Does he want me to follow him? Is there another spot to go to? We’re back to Mystery

It’s such a thrilling dance for me. And don’t get me wrong, the apps can totally be used to set up scenes that include all of these ingredients, but I find that to be a much greater feat to set up with someone. As opposed to cruising, when these ingredients are already baked into the equation.
