TL;DR:
A Frequency Band is the vibrational range through which an energy operates—and that range determines how the energy expresses itself. Just as the molecule H₂O can manifest as ice, liquid water, or vapor, the same underlying energetic patterns can take on radically different forms depending on what frequency it's operating at (or which frequency band it's operating within)
The essential energetic blueprint or pattern remains the same; what changes is how it behaves, manifests, and is experienced within our reality.
This principle applies not only to matter and sound, but to consciousness itself.
While no Frequency Band of matter or sound is inherently more desirable than another, within consciousness, higher Frequency Bands support more expansive expressions of the divine and the evolution of both the individual and the collective.
Let’s talk about Frequency Bands & Harmonics of Energy.
Everything is energy, and all energy operates at a specific frequency—meaning it vibrates at a particular rate.
The same matter, energy, or underlying pattern of consciousness can vibrate within a different range of frequency, or “Frequency Band” and in doing so express itself differently.
Frequency Bands in Matter: Water

Take water, for example. The molecule H₂O has three widely known states. At its lowest temperature/frequency band, H₂O expresses as ice: a solid. As its temperature rises and reaches the temperature/frequency band of 32-212 degrees Fahrenheit it expresses as water: a liquid. And finally at the next temperature/frequency band of 212 degrees Fahrenheit and higher, it becomes water vapor: a gas.
Ice, liquid water, and water vapor look and behave completely differently, yet they are all expressions of the same molecule. The essential substance has not changed. What has changed are the conditions (rate of vibration) under which it is operating—and therefore the form through which it expresses itself.
Frequency Bands in Sound: Musical Octaves
Another example can be found in musical octaves.
You can play the same note or chord on a piano across several different octaves. A G major chord is still a G major chord in each of the seven complete octave positions in which it can be played .Every version carries the same underlying harmonic identity—the same relationship between G, B, and D—but at a different frequency band, or harmonic of energy.
As the chord moves into higher octaves, the sound waves vibrate at increasingly faster rates. The pitch changes, but the essential signature of the chord remains recognizable. In this example, the different Octaves are the Frequency Bands.
Frequency Bands of Consciousness
These are concepts I’ve been aware of since middle school. But it wasn’t until I began studying the Gene Keys that my understanding of Frequency Bands—or Harmonics of Energy—really began to bloom in the context of consciousness (not just matter and sound waves)
What Are the Gene Keys?
The Gene Keys is a beautiful and profound channeled body of work created by Richard Rudd. It grew, in part, out of Human Design—another extraordinary channeled system that offers a blueprint of your unique design as a human being and a strategy for orienting yourself within the world.
The Gene Keys also draws upon the 64 hexagrams of the I Ching, an ancient Chinese system of wisdom and divination. Each hexagram is composed of six broken or unbroken lines representing Yin and Yang. Together, the 64 possible configurations form an archetypal map of change, consciousness, and the patterns underlying human experience.
I’m absolutely obsessed with the Gene Keys.. They have taught me SO much about the reality we live in and the energetic mechanics of energy, light, consciousness, the Divine, and matter.
More than anything, the Gene Keys bridged the gap for me between physiology, spirituality, and the evolution of humanity and the collective consciousness through the lens of frequency bands
There is so much depth to the system, but in a nutshell, there are 64 individual Gene Keys, (each corresponding with one of the 64 hexagrams of the I Ching) all of which correspond with the 64 codons within human DNA.
Each Gene Key is an archetypal code of consciousness—almost like a strand of spiritual DNA.
We all contain the full spectrum of these 64 Gene Keys, but your Hologenetic Profile highlights the specific 11 Gene Keys that are most alive for you in your energetic makeup.

How Frequency Changes the Expression of a Gene Key
And just like water or a musical chord, each Gene Key manifests itself very differently depending on the Frequency Band through which it is operating.
But there is one important distinction: with ice, water, vapor, or the different octaves of a musical chord, no expression is inherently more desirable than another. Each serves a different and equally valuable function. Within the Gene Keys, however, the higher the Frequency Band, the more helpful, expansive, and delicious that energy becomes—for both the individual and the evolution of humanity.

The Gene Keys describes three distinct Frequency Bands that each Gene Key can operate within. In each, the Gene Key itself remains the same, but the frequency at which you embody it determines how it manifests within your consciousness, behavior, and lived reality.
3 Frequency bands of the Gene Keys:
The Shadow The Gift The Siddhi
The SHADOW State is the Gene Key manifesting within its lowest Frequency Band—the harmonic of FEAR. At this frequency, the energy of the Gene Key becomes constricted, distorted, or driven by unconscious survival patterns. The Shadow is not inherently “bad. It is simply the raw material for our evolution—the lower-frequency expression of the same energy that contains both the Gift and the Siddhi within it.
The GIFT State is the Gene Key manifesting within the harmonic of LOVE. This is the frequency of our higher human potential: the more expansive, creative, and life-giving expression available to all of us. As the density of fear loosens its grip, the energy trapped within the Shadow is released and transformed into its Gift. The Gift is not about becoming perfect; it is about embodying greater awareness, responsibility, openness, and trust within our everyday human lives.
The SIDDHIC State — with Siddhi referring to a divine gift, spiritual realization, or perfected expression—is the highest harmonic of the Gene Keys. It represents the frequency at which the individual self begins to dissolve into Divine Consciousness and the Gene Key expresses itself in its purest form. These are the states of realization embodied by enlightened masters and beings such as Jesus, Buddha, Mary Magdalene, and others. We may touch or glimpse these frequencies throughout our lives, even if sustaining their complete embodiment remains extraordinarily rare.
We are never permanently fixed within any one Frequency Band. We may express the Shadow, Gift, and even glimpse the Siddhi of the same Gene Key at different moments, depending on our awareness, circumstances, and state of consciousness.
The Evolution of Human Consciousness
Through the lens of the Gene Keys, the evolution of human consciousness has been—and continues to be—a movement out of the more primitive, fear-based frequencies of the Shadow, into the love-based consciousness of the Gift, and ultimately toward the Divine realization of the Siddhi. Much of humanity still operates from fear-based consciousness, but the Gift frequency is expanding rapidly. More and more people are beginning to embody its love, creativity, and responsibility—while some are even scratching the surface of the Siddhic states waiting within us.
Two Gene Keys Across All Three Frequency Bands
Let’s look at two of the Gene Keys that I have prominent in my Hologenetic Profile, the 56th and 30th:
The 56th Gene Key: “Divine Indulgence"
The Shadow of DISTRACTION
At the Shadow frequency, the 56th Gene Key becomes endlessly distracted by stimulation, novelty, stories, ideas, experiences, and the dramas of the outer world. We move restlessly from one experience to the next, continually searching for something exciting enough to relieve the discomfort, emptiness, or boredom within us. Even pleasure can become another form of escape when we consume or chase it unconsciously without allowing it to truly touch or change us. Life may appear colorful, exciting, and full, yet very little is being digested deeply enough to nourish, satisfy, or transform us. Its all distracting us AWAY from ourselves instead of bringing greater awareness and focus INTO ourselves.
The Gift of ENRICHMENT
At the Gift frequency, we stop using life’s experiences as distractions and begin digesting them for their wisdom. We become more discerning about what we consume and more present with what life is actually offering us. Every pleasure, challenge, relationship, conversation, and adventure becomes nourishment instead of toxic, something we can contemplate, integrate, and transform into greater understanding. Rather than simply collecting experiences, we allow those experiences to deepen us. Our presence becomes richer, our stories carry meaning, and the wisdom we extract from living naturally enriches the lives of the people around us.
The Siddhi of INTOXICATION
At the Siddhic frequency, enrichment blossoms into Divine Intoxication: an ecstatic love of existence itself. We no longer need endless stimulation to make life feel vivid because the most ordinary moment reveals an inexhaustible beauty and sacredness. This is not intoxication through substances, fantasy, or escape, but through direct communion with the living essence woven into all things. Life itself becomes the elixir. The separation between the one experiencing life and life itself dissolves, leaving only wonder, delight, and complete immersion in the Divine. Nothing needs to be added to the moment because existence, exactly as it is, is already intoxicating.
Another Gene Key in my profile is the 30th Gene Key: Celestial Fire
The Shadow of DESIRE
At the Shadow frequency, the fire of desire consumes us. We become attached not only to what we want, but to the belief that life must deliver it in a particular form for us to feel satisfied, complete, or alive. We chase pleasure, love, success, intensity, spiritual awakening, or the next transformative experience—only to discover that no fulfillment lasts for long. We may compulsively indulge our desires or repress them out of fear, guilt, and shame, but either response leaves us controlled by the same underlying hunger for something outside ourselves. The suffering is not created by desire itself, but by our attachment to where we believe it must lead.
The Gift of LIGHTNESS
At the Gift frequency, we stop treating every desire as a command that must be obeyed—or a dangerous impulse that must be suppressed. We allow desire to move freely through the body without immediately attaching ourselves to its outcome. We can trust what we feel without needing to follow every feeling. This brings a new buoyancy to life: we participate fully in its pleasures, passions, and possibilities while holding them with open hands. Desire becomes a flame that illuminates our experience rather than one that consumes us, revealing that beneath every individual longing is a deeper longing to know and experience our true nature.
The Siddhi of RAPTURE
At the Siddhic frequency, the fire of personal desire is transformed into pure devotional longing for the Divine. There is no longer someone chasing fulfillment somewhere outside themselves—the one who desires, the object of desire, and the fire between them become one. Every sensation, emotion, pleasure, and ache of longing is experienced as the Divine moving ecstatically through the body. Rapture is not the satisfaction of every desire, but the revelation that the sacred fire beneath all desire was always seeking reunion with itself. Nothing needs to happen for the moment to become ecstatic; existence itself is experienced as an all-consuming state of Divine communion.
(***These are gross simplifications of these Gene keys for the purpose of illustrating the fundamentals of frequency bands. This body of work is so much more profound and impactful than what these two examples convey. I highly encourage you to go dive into these yourself)
The Same Archetypal Code, Expressed Differently
In both of these examples, these are not three separate Gene Keys, but three expressions of the same archetypal code of consciousness. Just as H₂O takes on different forms depending on its temperature—ice, water, or vapor—the 56th and 30th Gene Key manifests differently depending on the frequency band through which it is expressed. The essential energetic signature remains the same, but its manifestation in our reality and lived experience changes completely.
Harmonics of Astrology
Pam Gregory—one of my absolute favorite astrologers—was the first person I heard use the language of higher and lower harmonics, or octaves of energy.
Her language of Harmonics and Richard Rudd’s language of Frequency Bands clicked together perfectly for me. They are two different ways of describing the same underlying concept: the same energy can express itself in radically different ways depending upon the vibrational range through which it is operating.
Pam often describes astrology as the energetic backdrop against which we live our lives. The astrology is a large factor, but only half of the picture. The other half is who we are and what harmonic of energy we’re embodying within that backdrop.
A collective astrological transit may present for all of us, but we are not all living within the same frequency band, and so how that transit - and the energies it carries - affects and manifests within each of our realities can be vastly different
Take Mercury Retrograde, for example.
At a lower harmonic, Mercury Retrograde can manifest as miscommunication, technological breakdowns, travel disruptions, delayed plans, resurfacing conflicts, and people from the past suddenly reappearing. If we are already operating from fear, reactivity, or overwhelm (a LOWER HARMONIC of energy), these disruptions can send us spinning. Every delay feels like an attack. Every misunderstanding becomes a crisis. Every resurfacing issue feels like life dragging us backward.
But at a higher harmonic, the exact same transit becomes an invitation to slow down, listen more carefully, and revisit what was never fully resolved. It creates space to review, reflect, reconsider, revise, reconnect, and repair. The past may return not to torment us, but to reveal what we now have the awareness to understand differently. What feels like interruption at one frequency becomes redirection and opportunity for reflection and integration at another.
We can see the same principle within the Uranus–Pluto trine (a current significant astrological configuration) currently shaping our collective astrological backdrop. Uranus carries the energy of disruption, awakening, liberation, innovation, and sudden change. Pluto exposes what has been buried and brings themes of power, death, rebirth, and total transformation.
At a lower harmonic, these forces can manifest through volatility, technological chaos, compulsive rebellion, power struggles, social destabilization, and the destruction of systems without anything coherent ready to replace them. It can become revolution fueled entirely by fear, rage, and the desire to tear everything down.
At a higher harmonic, that same energy can catalyze extraordinary breakthroughs. Outdated systems can be transformed rather than merely destroyed. Power can be redistributed. Technology can be used to liberate rather than control. Buried truths can surface, collective consciousness can awaken, and entirely new ways of organizing society can become possible.
Again, it is the same astrology—the same energetic ingredients—but expressed, perceived, and lived through a different Harmonic.
One More Example
Here’s one more example that’s a little more grounded in everyday reality, dealing with how we perceive and react to more everyday occurrences of the world around us.
Do you ever see someone filming content (likely for their Tik Tok or Youtube channel) out in public? Where they’re doing something totally wild, or just against the norm of everyone else walking down the street - filming a outfit check, fitness video, or the latest trending Tik Tok dance - where it’s very noticeable, what they’re doing stands out and they almost seem “out of place”
A lower harmonic of witnessing that might make you cringe. “Wow that’s so awkward and embarrassing” or judgement might come up within you… “yikes, I would never want draw attention to myself like”
An even lower harmonic of that, which is almost hard for me to imagine, would be making some rude comment, intentionally getting in the frame to ruin their shot, or even filming them to show to others and make fun of them.
The higher harmonic of all of this would be some level of appreciation, admiration, or inspiration “Go off, queen” you say to yourself, admiring their boldness, and ability to do their own thing, for their own purpose, business or pure pleasure, despite how “against the current” or out of place it might seem. Within the these higher harmonics also lives inspiration, “Damn, if she can do that, maybe I can too”
IN SUMMARY
Frequency Bands—or Harmonics of Energy—determine how the same building blocks of energy and/or consciousness express themselves or are perceived by us within the same shared reality.
At lower and more dense fear based frequencies, energy and perception becomes more contracted, distorted, destructive, painful, and judgemental.
At higher frequency bands, that same essential energy - or experience of that energy - becomes more expansive, generative, pleasurable, loving, inspiring and supportive to the evolution of the collective consciousness.
Now the question becomes: What determines the frequency band or harmonic of energy we’re operating within? How can we move towards higher frequency bands?
And how does all of this apply to Pleasure, and the Erotic?
More on that soon
